Dr. Tanos, MD, PhD, practices at Aretaeio Hospital in Nicosia as a specialized Obstetrician and Gynecologist, leading the Reproductive Medicine and Surgery as well as the in-vitro fertilization (IVF) unit. His team offers high-quality health services in Obstetrics and Gynecology, successfully managing rare and challenging cases.

He is a Professor and head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at the University of Nicosia Medical School. His clinical research spans across the University of Nicosia Medical School and the departments of Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Cyprus. His focus is on research and innovation in reproductive surgery and bioinformatics.

Dr. Tanos is a member of the Executive Board of ESGE (European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy), Scientific Director of the European Academy of Gynecological Surgery, and oversees Certification in Gynecological Endoscopic Surgery (GESEA program) for ESGE. He proposed and established, along with four colleagues, the ECRES certification (ESHRE Certification of Reproductive Endoscopic Surgery) for the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE). Additionally, he serves as an inspector for ESHRE's Certification of Excellence in Assisted Reproductive Technology Centers (ESHRE – ARTCC).

Until recently, he held positions as the Secretary General of ESGE (European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy), Vice President of MESGE (Middle East Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy), and coordinated the surgical group for reproduction at ESHRE. He has published over 300 articles in international scientific journals, books, web video presentations, and delivered 290 speeches at international scientific conferences, 190 as an invited speaker. He has worked as an invited surgeon and trainer in numerous hospitals and clinics across several countries in Central Europe and Asia.
